Date-Night Dilemma – How to Make It Fun, Memorable and Interactive
Have you ever had a date night that couldn’t end fast enough? You know, one that was filled with awkward silences and nervous laughter, and offered very little in the way of real connection? This is an all-too-common dilemma, and it can only be cured by adding a healthy dose of fun and interaction to your night out.
While there’s nothing wrong with abiding by the conventional dating norms such as dinner and a movie, why not try something a little different this time around? You never know how a different activity or environment can liven up a date night, and create opportunities to get to know your significant other in a whole new way. Below are some ideas to make your next date night more fun, memorable and interactive.
1. Take a cooking class together. Even if you (or your date) already have a decent level of culinary chops, there’s always something more to learn, plus you get a chance to cook alongside your companion and spark up a little romance. Try to choose a place that offers smaller group sizes, as this will make it easier to hear the instructor, plus it will add more of an intimate feel to the date.
2. Board games and takeout are a match made in heaven. Play a game of Monopoly, or test your skills as a wordsmith over a round or two of Scrabble. No matter which board game you choose, just remember to keep it light and playful; if you lean towards being ultra-competitive, keep those “eye of the tiger” tendencies at bay and just focus on having a good time.
3. Go on a group date to an escape room adventure. This is an exhilarating and highly interactive experience in which participants are locked in a themed room and given only 60 minutes to figure out how to escape. Your group will be required to solve a series of puzzles and look for hidden objects or clues in order to discover the key to unlocking the door. A premiere “escape the room” Cincinnati venue is Houdini’s Room Escape, which offers three different escape rooms to choose from, each of which has an intriguing theme that will get your mental gears turning. You and your date will have a blast putting your collective sleuthing skills to work in order to escape the room before time runs out!
4. Channel your inner Van Gogh by taking a painting class together. With the guidance of an instructor, you’ll be mixing paints and mingling with your date to create a masterpiece that you might even want to hang on your wall later. Even if your painting turns out to be…well, let’s just say less than stellar, you’ll still be able to create great memories and enjoy a more intimate level of interaction with your date. Not only that, but many classes allow you to bring your own bottle of wine (they’ll supply the wine glasses and ice buckets), so that you can add an extra spark of romance to the occasion.
You can settle for another humdrum date night, or you can shake things up a bit and try something new. Keep the above ideas in mind to make your next date night one to remember.
